Thank you so much for sharing Donna's interview! I am just completing my first year of widowhood in couple of days. I am in my early 60s and my husband was too; he suddenly collapsed and died for no apparent reason (he did have hypertension, gout and uric acid problems for which he was on medication). Unknown to anyone, not even his doctors, most of his blood vessels were suffering from blockages (90% - 60% on all of them). My main distraction is work as of now till January 2022.

I love that message to self; but it will get better, the crying will stop (become lesser), and the happy memories will sustain you for the rest of your life.

Most grateful,

Sarah

This was an interesting interview. Totally different than my experience. My husband was sick for several years and we knew his death would be sooner rather than later. He had heart, kidney and blood issues, amongst other health problems. He died a month short of our 60th anniversary. Watching his deterioration was heartbreaking. A strong similarity was that I had surgery for lung cancer less than a year after his death. Going through surgery and chemo alone was hard. Thank goodness for friends and family. Thankfully my cancer is in remission. The one positive is that for the first time in my life I do what I want, when I want. It's somewhat liberating at 80 years old.
